Zinc selenide (ZnSe) is a well-known material used in optics, especially for infrared (IR) applications. Highly transparent over a wide infrared range, it is ideally suited for use in thermal imaging systems, CO2 lasers and lenses, windows and prisms in the infrared spectrum.ZnSe has a relatively high refractive index and low absorption coefficient, which ensures efficient transmission of infrared light. In addition, its good mechanical strength and resistance to thermal shock make it suitable for high-power laser systems and harsh environments. Due to these properties, ZnSe is a key material for industrial and scientific optical applications.
